The Western Bubishi

The Western Bubishi

November 1, 2003 Martial Arts

The Western Bubishi is an advanced exploration into the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine to the fighting arts. The Extraordinary Vessels are described in extreme detail, surpassing many Traditional Chinese Medicine textbooks. Cover of their functions and interactions with the twelve Main Meridians, providing an easy-to-understand description. Examination of each of the eight Extraordinary Vessels point-by-point and present various methods to attack them from a martial perspective.”

The thirty-six Vital Points listed in the historic martial document, The Bubishi, are examined in great detail. This examination provides a much clearer picture of the combative importance of that document for the western student. The Primary Energetic Target of the body is provided with detailed analysis. The subject of Body Alarm Reaction (BAR) is covered with solid research, providing western martial artists with a better understanding of this phenomenon. Then, we examine BAR from an eastern perspective and combine it with Extraordinary Vessel interactions to illustrate how to utilize this knowledge in a combative sense.

This book will unlock the true combative methods of eastern-based fighting disciplines. 8.5X11 inches. 186 pages. Indexed. 38 Tables. 48 Photographs. 20 Diagrams. Published: November 1, 2003

Note from the Author: This book was the result of over a decade’s worth of research into the more difficult aspects of the ancient martial document known as the Bubishi. It was my first effort at publishing a book, and from this endeavor I learned a great deal. It was self-published and initially went out of print in about 2009. Several third-party book sellers continued to offer it at outrageous prices because there was still a demand. In 2022, I had a few hundred printed and offered them for purchase to make them available to interested people at a reasonable price. This was the book for which the much more refined and professionally published The 36 Deadly Bubishi Points was the inspiration.
